As you might have noticed I added a status of how I'm doing awhile back, and now I've finally got around to updating it. As you can also see, it's rather pathetic at the moment.
I'll try to update it every time I post, or at least after a decent amount of games have been played. I guess it's sorta for myself as well in a way. I'm not going to bother with dollar amounts at each level, but I'll put a total at the very bottom.
I ended up playing yesterday as hoped and got off to a horrendous start before eking out a small profit. The last game of which I had the most fun, and played a strange opponent. For the first 3 levels he limped his entire range, maybe raising once or twice preflop. When he was in the big blind, he'd my raises with a big range, and never take me seriously when I'd c-bet. I ran good for a bit and got him low, but he ended up doubling up when I had him down to about 20bb when he turned two pair.
Then when the blinds hit 20/40 he went nuts all around. He raised almost every hand pre, started 3-betting me frequently and our match was the most aggressive I've ever played. I found though, he wasn't willing to commit without a big hand, even after putting a lot of chips in play, and his lines often made no sense. If I showed any sort of passiveness on one street and then bet the next, he'd always assume I was bluffing. I 3-bet him several times pre as well and he never called, and post flop I was just coming over the top of him a lot. Needless to say our stacks went back and forth quite a lot playing such an aggressive form of poker, and I clearly had the edge. But as the blinds went up, it really became a crapshoot. I had him down to 500 chips several times, and then either ran into really cold decks or he got it in with the better hand. When the blinds hit 30-60 I had him down to about 450 and he again doubled up, then he outplayed me on a hand where I was sure he was bluffing again, and he'd clearly adapted his play, leaving me with nothing >6bb. Pre I got it in w/ K9s, he had Ax and his hand held up. I enjoyed it though, and I think I learnt a lot more playing this game than I have in awhile, as it's rare you run into a thinking player that aggressive at these stakes. Most aggro players are just maniacs at this stage.
